Research
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease which is characterized by various combinations of cerebellar ataxia and parkinsonism in addition to autonomic failure. No effective therapeutic measures are available.
In our lab, we do the basic research to overcome MSA, and clinical study targeting underlying factors of MSA.
Current projects
- MSA registry
- Clinical trial to investigate whether administration of a high dose of ubiquinol is effective to suppress progression of MSA
- Exome sequencing analysis to identify genetic risk factors of MSA
- Study of natural history of MSA
